"Stellar Rubble May Be Planetary Building Blocks"

Artist's concept depicts a pulsar, which is a type of dead star.

This is a picture of a pulsar, which is a star that exploded and died, and the surrounding disk of the rubble. This pulsar, is called 4U 0142+61, died about 100,000 years ago due to a supernova explosion. I chose this picture, because I find it very intriguing what things look like after they erupted. We live on a planet that is a result of the Big Bang, which we all know was a huge explosion that occurred billions of years ago. This picture is actually a painting depicted by an unknown artist. One question this painting of a star raises, is how much longer will this star called the sun be alive for?

  1. Sean, this picture is really cool to look at and incredibly visually appealing. It also depicts such a powerful force as a supernova explosion which I find a great deal of interest in, as they are said, if they are big enough to create black holes. Thanks for sharing this awesome picture.
