Arcus "roll cloud"

At first glance, one would think that a tsunami was rolling over a town (at least I did). This arcus cloud known as a roll cloud is truly something you don't see every day. The cloud looks as though it is only a few feet above the buildings. I even think that this cloud is moving rapidly. Some questions that come to mind are: How does a roll cloud form? How often do these roll clouds occur, and do they only occur in certain parts of the world?

  1. This cloud is really interesting and i can not imagine what I would do if I saw a cloud like this coming over my house. The straight edgeat the top of the cloud is very different then normal clouds ad it makes me think that it is formed in a very unique way.

  2. I think that you picked a great picture to talk about because the shape of it, and it being over a town is so strange. However, I really am fascinated and surprised that clouds can form in that crazy shape. Great choice!

  3. Very fascinated by this picture! I liked how you compared it to a tsunami, that was a great way to describe it.

  4. Nice choice Andrew. A fabulous photo. Just wish you included the link to it, because I want to know more about this. I know nothing about "roll clouds!"
