Blog Post #2

This article was one of the most interesting things I have read in awhile. I think it is mind-boggling that some planets are formed by random floating solar system material. The fact that the solar system material was locked together by extreme heat created by the decay of short-lived radioisotopes, which is the energy conversion that occurs when dense metals are physically separated from lighter silicate, and the impact of large objects is very astonishing. And just by taking that information scientist can get a good idea on when the Earth and Moon were formed, which was 4.4 billion years ago. And also Mars being formed 4.5 billion years ago. I found that super interesting that just by analyzing that layers of each planet they can come to a conclusion on when that certain planet was created. In the end we have come very far in terms of space knowledge, being able to calculate the age of a planet is a big step for us. And if we keep researching we will be very knowledgeable on each and every planet.

  1. I am glad you found this so interesting. Would appreciate a little more on the specifics of the discovery, such as the materials and methods used by the scientists to gather this information.
