My article “NASA Confirms Evidence that Liquid Water Flows on Today’s Mars” is about the discovery of water on Mars. This is such a big deal because water is needed to sustain life. In this article John Grunsfeld, an astronaut says,“Our quest on Mars has been to ‘follow the water,’ in our search for life in the universe, and now we have convincing science that validates what we’ve long suspected.” This shows that life could be sustained on Mars. The water that NASA found is actually flowing like the water here on Earth. All though this water is not as plentiful, it is still drinkable. Another part of the article that I would say was depicted almost, if not more prominent than water being on Mars was the second half being about perchlorates which keep liquid from freezing.
This article was completely relevant to today’s society. In science, people have always been searching for life and in the solar system and beyond besides in Earth. It was huge for our world to discover water on Mars because now it provides us with hope that if something ever compromised Earth, there is possibility that we could continue humanity on another planet. People have always imagined that life is out there but not many people have thought about our neighboring planet, Mars being able to sustain life.
At the beginning of the article I thought that this article was entirely relevant to the title. After reading further into the article, the author went into details that were not just about the water like perchlorates which keep liquid from freezing even in temperatures below -94 degrees Fahrenheit. almost ¾ of the article was about these perchlorates and not about the water discovery. Even though this is related to water, I felt it should have been focused on more as a subtopic instead of a prominent part of the article. In my opinion I would have liked to have read about water.
