Meltzer, David. "Comet Theory False; Doesn't Explain Cold Snap at the End of the Ice Age." (n.d.): n. pag. Smu Research. Web.

This article is about the climate change that occurred at the end of the Ice Age. Many have believed in the comet theory which suggests that pieces of a comet hit earth in 29 different locations. Believers point to sediments that could have only occurred from a cosmic impact. A new study disproves this theory and sites that the 29 different locations contain sediments that are either to young or to old for the ice age cooling period. only 3 of the 29 sites actually support this theory.

This is significant because it disproves a theory long thought of about in the ice age. Many people believed this as a reason for the drastic change in climate at the end of this ice age. It is still not clear why this drastic climate change occurred. Finding the answer to this question could help us to find solutions to the climate change we face today.

I felt overall this article was well written. I did fell that at times the information was repeated for some reason. I found it very easy to read and write about because of the way it was written. I feel I learned a lot from this article.

  1. Hi Will,
Thanks for sharing this article with me. You shared the statistics that were given in the article very clearly which enabled the reader a clear understanding of its contents. The topic of climate change is constantly debated and these findings that you shared bring a whole different point of view to the table. You shared that the end of the last ice age and the reasons for it remain a mystery.
I was impressed with the extent to which researchers go to prove or disprove a theory. Traveling to 29 different sites that were believed to have been sites of comet strikes to test mineral samples is mind-blowing. What is particularly interesting is that although they were able to disprove the comet theory, there is still no clear answer as to what caused the end of the last ice age.
While you did a great job of presenting the material, the wording of some of the sentences was hard to follow because of typos. Spending a few minutes to look over your work is something that we can both work on!
    Thanks,
    JG

    1. Will i like how you challenged yourself with a difficult article, and frankly thought you did a good job explaining the two different theories. You quickly allowed me, the reader to gain immediate knowledge on this hot and debated topic. You truly demonstrated in writing this piece that quality is better than quantity. Keep up the excellent work Von
